Juergen De Blonde is known as the man behind the project "Koehn" (=rabbit) , an electronica-bedroom-project with two CD releases on the belgian KRAAK label, filled with a lot of weird skippings and bleeps. Foreign press hyped the guy so much that it resulted in a several concerts through Europe and a support act for Sonic Youth in Brussels.
With his debut Hidden Rabbit for Tomlab, Juergen has been pulling a lot of treasures out of his huge archive of song recordings that describe much better where this Koehn is really coming from. Having grown up in a largely indie rock dominated 90ies you can trace back Juergen de Blonde's influences from My Bloody Valentine, to Spiritualized to Nick Drake and many many more artists with a strong guitar oriented background.
His coming out as a singer/songwriter draws a natural line back to his start as a musician with Casio keyboards in the late 80ies and an electric guitar + a sampler in the early 90ies. He played in quite a couple of bands, released solo tapes under the name Ed Nolbed on diverse labels and as of today is still a member of the more postrock oriented band De Portables.
As a multi instrumentalist, his great talent is revealed most in his solo works where he creates an eclectic mix of more rock oriented structures with electronic arrangements that come closer to actual fusion as any such new terms as indietronics. His voice is oddly soft and beautiful but you can feel the raging power underneath and the irony that he attributes to some of the subjects of his songs such as "Shady Brain (for Britney Spears)" makes him even more loveable.
