"In fact Summer DSP is a very long loop that is slowly shifting and evolving very slowly with no real climax but with a clear end and a beginning. I was always thinking of an endless piece and I even did a sound installation which was playing the main loop over and over (the installation included photo projections done by Susanne Skalski, a series that was specifically produced for Summer DSP but never found the way to the cover) but now that the piece has made its way on vinyl I am very happy with the limited length of the album.
There have been a lot of rumors right after the release of Summer DSP since the record doesn't carry my name and people were thinking that this record was coming from the camp around Markus Popp and Jan Werner. It was definitely influenced by the Oval releases at that time. The first Oval album in 1993 was a revelation for me and and I still think that OVAL is one of the most interesting and most consequent electronic music projects around." Tom Steinle, 2001
"Much care obviously went into the slow evolution of Summer DSP, attention which has not only obscured Steinle's source material but also enabled him to crash bravely through the gate separating the artificial from the organic." Motion, UK
