We're back! And we mean literally - after years of silence and thinking how to continue a venture that was never just a record label in a music world dominated by a new digital paradigma, with a lot of noise everywhere, Tomlab is coming back, as a record label, and most important as a distinct voice.
In the meantime Tomlab has found a new home in Berlin. Almost a year after that move the new environment is coming to terms, yet there's still so many new things to discover here!
But back to this news thread:
The work on this new website was a major undertaking after the defunct database application of the previous website was just no longer able to be updated. The Tomlab presence was sort of dead online. After rounds of discussions with programmers, web designers, endless research on the web and thousands of mouse clicks - it's like back in the old days, with a new website that was made the DIY way and the long long history of graphic designers, photographers, musicians, bands, directors (the "content") sort of helped to bring this to life... it was like flipping through a history book of Tomlab's past while editing every single page (actually more than 200) one by one.
So here it is. The website will still need some tweaks here and there but it's good for a start and it's actually overdue for the new release from O. D. Davey.
The Tomlab webstore is not going to come back any time soon except for the very special somethings or future pre-orders. Other companies can serve you so much faster (SCD, A-Musik, Anost to name a few) and they will certainly be happy to offer you combined purchases with the catalogs from other labels as well.
What's next? Best to watch out this new RSS news blog...
And please say hello - we haven't heard from you in such a long long time!
